Football is just one of those sports that I never really liked, but every year I look forward to the Superbowl for one reason: the commercials. This year, both Honda and Acura released their superbowl commercials for the CR-V and NSX a little bit early. Featuring Matthew Broderick and Jerry Seinfeld, Honda and Acura nailed it with these ads. Very funny.

Every time I look at our Lotus, I feel sad for it. There’s a story behind why it just sits, gathering dust, but the Internet is not the place for that. It runs, but the suspension and bodywork needs to be fixed, needs to be repainted, needs wheels, and needs to be cleaned up a bit in general. This car has the potential to be really cool when completed. Sigh. Hopefully someday.

I’m so close to losing all patience for total dumbasses on the Internet. I seriously don’t understand how people can be so stupid. The Internet is a great tool for information. Learning to use Google and reading websites isn’t rocket science, people.

Some jackass 16 year old kid posted on the High End Facebook asking for a sponsorship and free parts. Are you fucking kidding me? You think posting on a Facebook wall is going to get you hand outs? The audacity of these kids amazes me.

Also, I noticed my friend talking with someone on Facebook who asked my friend what car he should get. This or that. In the end, he made his choice based on the fact that “everyone and their mom” had the car. What happened to test driving both and deciding what one you feel more comfortable driving? Buying a car is a big investment. I don’t understand how people can make a decision just based on popularity.

Sigh. I’m not even 22 and I can tell I’m already turning into that grumpy old man with a predisposition against “those damn kids”. LOL!

So this isn’t a totally worthless post without a picture, here’s something cool to look at. AE101 ‘Rolla.

Chevy at the LA auto show

I caught this in the Chevrolet booth at the LA auto show a few weeks back. I saw a guy dressed as a superhero jumping in the air and I thought it was a really random and weird until I took a closer look. Chevy created a 3D modeler using a bunch of Canon Rebels. Showgoers could do all kinds of weird things and the images from the camera would be compiled into a 3D image. I thought it was a really cool and creative idea.

The Canepa Shop

In this final look inside Canepa Design, we look at some of the cars inside the shop area. Most cars here are customer cars, but there are also a few museum pieces too. Canepa Design is capable of handling simple tune ups to full-on restorations and all work is done entirely in-house. As Mike pointed out in his coverage, the only thing you won’t find here are CAD machines. All the work is done the old fashioned way: by hand. The technicians we talked to were very welcoming and were happy to show us and explain what they were working on.

In our experience at Canepa Design, it’s clear that one aspect stood out: quality. We observed meticulous attention to detail and obvious care in doing the job right. All the cars looked as if they just rolled off the line at the factory. I was very impressed with Canepa Design and I know that if I ever pick up a classic car, Canepa will be the first and only place to get my business. A big thank you for them too for allowing us to poke around and take photos.
